Pet Insurance Options

Another popular option for paying for veterinary services is to sign up for pet health insurance. We strongly recommend that every family have pet health insurance for at least the first 2 years of your pet’s life with you. After having a pet for 2 years, you are likely to know if that pet is accident-prone, predisposed to dental problems, has a tendency to eat foreign material or get into the garbage, or have medical conditions that will require expensive therapy. One of the most painful decisions we’ve seen families encounter is being forced to make a choice for treatment based on the cost of therapy.

Investing in pet health insurance will remove that component of your choice in treatment for your pet and can literally make a difference between life and death. After 2 years, if your pet has had no illnesses or injuries, you might decide to drop the insurance coverage, though we recommend continuing it indefinitely in all cases.
