It’s just as important to care for your pets’ teeth as it is your own. Did you know: cats and dogs with dental infections have higher rates of bladder, kidney, liver, heart and lung disease due to the increased levels of bacteria entering the pet’s blood stream from its mouth? This is why it’s so important for pets to get regular teeth cleanings. Mile High Veterinary Hospital has your pet dental care needs covered, from teeth cleaning procedures to solutions for home dental care. Our dentistry services for cats & dogs include: dental x-rays, teeth cleaning, tooth extractions & sealing, and coaching & tools on how to perform routine maintenance and dental care for your pet at home. Home care for your pet’s teeth is an important and proactive way to ensure a healthy mouth, and regular teeth cleanings go a long way toward keeping your pet healthy.

Making the decision to euthanize a pet is one of the most difficult and gut-wrenching decisions pet parents will ever have to make. For those pets that still have a bit of time left, we offer hospice services (pain management through medication, acupuncture, or laser therapy). For those pets truly at the end of their lives, we offer compassionate and peaceful euthanasia services in a special, home-like room with carpet and a side exit that allows grief-stricken pet parents to leave without having to walk through the main clinic and see other people.
If you have a senior pet that needs hospice care, pain management, or humane euthanasia, please call Mile High Animal Hospital of Aurora at 303.693.6484, and schedule a visit to discuss options & what’s best for your pet.
We recommend pet microchipping as one of the most effective ways to ensure that a lost pet finds its way home to you. Radiology aka x-rays are an important diagnostic tool when we use to see what’s going on with your pet’s organs or bones. We use the most advanced, state-of-the-art, digital x-ray system for pets, and our staff is trained extensively on carefully handling your pet during radiology procedures.

Animal overpopulation continues to be a huge problem in the United States and abroad, and spays & neuters are the answer. We offer ovariohysterectomies (spays) and castrations (neuters). We also offer a pet-population-control discount to encourage our clients to have their pets spayed or neutered. We use anesthesia and other preventive pain management strategies, and carefully oversee your pets before, during, and after their spay or neuter.
Please contact Mile High Animal Hospital of Aurora at 303.693.6484 to schedule a spay or neuter for your cat or dog, and take advantage of our pet-population-control discount.
We routinely perform surgical procedures on cats & dogs ranging from basic surgeries (spays & neuters) to more advanced surgeries to remove masses, retrieve foreign bodies from the stomach or intestine, treat bladder stones, and more. Regardless of the type of procedure, we take steps to ensure a gentle and speedy recovery of your pet. We utilize a spacious and modern surgical suite, and a carefully designed treatment and recovery area.
We take a variety of steps to provide your pet with a safe and comfortable experience. First, we conduct a pre-surgical blood test to determine if there are any organ abnormalities that could impact how your pet will react to anesthesia or the surgical procedure itself. Based on results, we may change strategies based on the results of that pre-surgery blood test.
Next we give our pet patients pain relief medication even before the procedure starts. Many studies conclusively show that providing pain relief in advance reduces the amount of pain that patient feels after the surgery. By using a combination of narcotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, local anesthesia, Class IV Laser Therapy, and Acupuncture, our veterinarians are able to help your pet recover from surgery with as little pain as possible.
During surgery, the veterinary surgeon is assisted by a certified veterinary technician, who will monitor your pet’s heart rate, temperature, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen levels, CO2 output, and the depth of anesthesia throughout the procedure.
After surgery, your pet wil be placed in a comfortable, warm recovery area, where our veterinary staff will monitor your pet and its recovery. Once completed, your doctor or veterinary technician will call you with an update.
If you’re contemplating a surgery for your pet, please contact Mile High Animal Hospital of Aurora at 303.693.6484 to schedule a consult, or the surgical procedure itself.
Ultrasound is a comfortable, non-invasive diagnostic tool for evaluating internal organs, detecting tumors, signs of disease, pregnancies, and more. In some cases, ultrasound is more effective for diagnosing an issue than x-rays, such as better detecting a foreign body that your pet has swallowed.
If you think ultrasound is needed to help diagnose your cat or dog, contact Mile High Animal Hospital of Aurora at 303.693.6484.
Vaccines are an excellent way to protect your dogs from many preventable illnesses and diseases such as Distemper, Hepatitis, Bordetella, Parvo virus, and Rabies. For cats, vaccines can help protect them from feline leukemia, rabies, feline herpes, calici, and panleukopenia viruses. By vaccinating your pets, it makes it safer for them to stay healthy when outside and interacting with other animals. In addition, if you plan to board your pet while on a trip, vaccines and proof of those vaccines are usually required to place your cat or dog into a pet boarding facility.
To schedule a visit to get vaccinations, contact Mile High Animal Hospital of Aurora at 303.693.6484.
